  1. great finals in Boulder in the last couple of days! Mawem upset the whole world with the most unexpect gold medal of the championships, meanwhile Janja...there are no more words for her, she's simply the best. point. and she's so lovely, too Men's Boulder Gold: Mickael Mawem Silver: Mejdi Schalck Bronze: Lee Do Hyun Full Result https://ifsc.results.info/#/event/1301/cr/8320 Women's Boulder Gold: Janja Garnbret Silver: Oriane Bertone Bronze: Brooke Raboutou Full Result https://ifsc.results.info/#/event/1301/cr/8321
  2. c'mon! they were great, but still far from being perfect (we did underperformed badly in 3 out of 6 team events -way more important than the individual's this year), with the whole sabre department at risk of not qualifying (and even in Tokyo -one of the lower points in the recent years- we had a rich full set of teams) we did expect to earn the Olympic Quota place at least in the men's division (we won the European Champs just a few weeks ago, not mentioning our great "tradition" in this event in the last 30 years or so, which doesn't count right now, but helps to build expectation) and better results in the individual events (where we won Olympic medals just 2 years ago with both men and women and a few world cup tournaments with some regularity thanks to Nespoli) and having missed that quota place by just an inch is definitely more disappointing, more frustrating than not being competitive at all through the whole week in such case, most likely nobody would have said a single word about this event, just swallowed the bad medicine
  3. nothing...Paoli is just not good enough I just can't believe we don't have an archer better than him
  4. and the Olympic Champion Gazoz seals the deal for so, and will shoot for Gold and already have the Olympic Quota secured, meanwhile and will shoot for Bronze and the last Quota Place
  5. shoot-off between and in the 2nd men's team semifinal (after led 4-0)
  6. right now it's 67, but in a few years most likely there won't be any retirement age anymore, as there's no money to pay retirement fees
  7. it's Italy! 24 years here are like 16 in many other Countries
  8. otherwise it would take too much time, it's already an almost 2-hr event with 6 competitors
  9. it took a 58 for to win a set very high level shooting so far...
  10. naaa..I only hope (dream) it's gonna happen if not, well, I'll take it...
  11. we've changed a lot of things with our coaching staff and we've hired former raod sprinter Ivan Quaranta as a supervisor for the sprinters even if it dates back in time, we've also a great tradition in men's track sprinting...after years when the federation totally dismissed all the track programs, now we have new officials that showed interest and the ability to work well...we've rebuilt the endurance sector first, we're going to rebuild the sprint group too, very soon...
  12. yes, Seb Coe recently said they can't do without their top stars, therefore a place for Olympic and World Champions will always be reserved through wild cards if necessary (as long as they don't steal a place from any teammate, of course)
  13. watching the olympic channel broadcast on my smartphone...they're still 3-3 what the fuck of a delay does this broadcast have?
  14. well, our girls have been injured through the entire year, we've never competed with the "A" team in the previous events this time it was their first outing all together as a team and I think it was well visible...not only they rode quite slowly, but also the changes were far from being acceptable at this level and as I wrote earlier, they're still too much focused on the road races, they are basically not used to ride on the track (until last week they were all at the Tour de France femmes, for instance...not the best way to prepare for the track worlds)
  15. he's too inconsistent great talent, great power, but not so skilled in the one-vs-one matchups and sometimes he seems not to be interested in what's going on around him he's still among the most expected new stars of track cycling, but I think Predomo is way better than him (he's extremely skilled in the one-vs-one matchups and he's still a superlightweight...he definitely has way more margin of improvement of the Israeli guy) however, as I wrote, right now Yakovlev is already a fully built man ready to win (on his good days), Predomo is just a promising youngster (just turned 19 last Spring)
  16. yeah, too much road races for our guys and too much bad luck for our girls, who all come out from very serious injuries (especially our supposed leader in women's pursuit, Guazzini) let's hope to qualify the full contingent to the Games and I'm sure it will be a different story
  17. you're right however, it doesn't change much in perspective...our guy is for real maybe Paris 2024 comes a bit too early, but I expect a lot from him in the future (ps with his skills, he might be already very competitive in Keirin, but I don't know if our coaches want him to work properly in that dangerous discipline)
  18. Men's Boulder, Finalists Sorato Anraku Mickael Mawem Kokoro Fujii Mejdi Schalck Lee Do Hyun Nikolai Uznik
  19. shitty result by our girls in the women's team pursuit the world champions give up their title badly after finishing only 5th in the qualifiers (with an awful 4.5 sec distance from the leaders)
  20. Friday morning, to make it even more impressive (even if this is the traditional holiday week in following the Aug. 1st, National Day) however, the great Adam Ondra on the verge of being eliminated
  21. a bit worrying performance by our men's quartet, but they said today's gonna be different I just want to trust them, but I'm not sure right now they're good enough to match the Danes on the other hand, despite the 10th place, one more big improvement by our speed guys, almost 4/10 of a second taken off the National Record now we're "only" 8/10 of a second outside the bronze medal contenders...in LA I think we'll be there by the way, Predomo is already coming...yesterday he was the quickest among the final lap riders, even quicker than King Lavreysen we might have finally found a true heir of the great times featuring the Maspes, Gaiardoni and so on
  22. 6 in boulder, 8 in lead so far, the top 3 I think are safe into the final, then it's an open fight between Uznik and Ondra (among those who have already completed their effort) and those who can still get 3 tops Jenft I fear won't be able to keep his current 6th place
