  1. I remember going to a friend's house during Sochi. He lived with a couple of Germans and they were there hanging with some other watching the games. One of them asked me if I wanted to watch some biathlon with them and I answered something snarky/stupid like "if I wanted to see a bunch of white people wandering in the snow I'd watch lord of the rings". Long story short, I did catch some biathlon and damn, it is way more entertaining that it has any right to be. I was proved sooo wrong.
  2. This made Colombian mainstream news. Mostly because our two-time 4th placer Leidy Solis would get a silver.
  3. Yeah I think he's been focusing in 1000m so far. Last I heard he was joined by 6 others in Salt Lake City with plans to move to Calgary soon enough. And I also saw there's a teen doing quite well in Kamloops so we'll see how the adventure goes lol.
  4. Colombia is trying to get some of its inline skaters to South Korea. It'll be hard, but I guess I'll have fun following the process. I was living in NL during Sochi so I'll gladly take this as an excuse to root for my former host nation again.
  5. Nah, the whole point of Olympic golf is to widen the global footprint, so you need to include the bigger number of countries as possible even if that hurts quality. But I do agree they should change the format. Match play could be fun.
  6. Yep. AIBA wants two more for women, IWF wants to move to 8 even per gender and I also think ITU is pushing for a mixed relay.
  7. I'd just add a couple more women's events in boxing for now, I think AIBA wants two more for Tokyo I'd add an extra women's event in weightlifting to even out the genders (due to the way qualification works it does not require extra quota) I'd add madison to track cycling and make the bmx time trial a medal event
  8. I don't get the grief weightlifting gets over doping. Sure, it's a disgrace what's happening to the 2008 and 2012 results but at least they're doing something about it. They were the other ones besides IAAF that had the guts to ban Russia, they would have banned other offenders if IOC had hurried up with the results and already reallocated a medal and banned several countries for the WC next year. Instead, we have people like FINA that protects and pampers dopers. We are hearing a lot about doping in weightlifting precisely because IWF wants to do something about it.
  9. Every goal we hoped for was accomplished. More than one gold (3), the same or more in total medals than in London (same number, better colors), 2nd in South America, 3rd in Latin America, 6th in the Americas (check, check and check) and top 30 in the medals table (23rd). Plus, several 4th and 5th places, unexpected diplomas, over 20 top 8 results. Here's hoping the improvement continues in Tokyo.
  10. No one expected anything from Botero, but what a wonderful way to end Rio: with a 5th place and a diploma no one saw coming.
  11. Like a bad student trying to save the year in the last week lolol I do hope Espinoza gets that gold.
  12. LOL. Photoshop Mosquera in at the very least.
  13. Thank you! You get us quite the scare and for Delpo's sake I wish you guys had 4 golds. Awesome games for our nations!
  14. Two bronzes in men?? Ha, we got the same bounty than in London
  15. With Venezuela always in a lower rung Seriously tho, we were really close to having a third one in men's fly weight but boxing judges + Russian rival
  16. GRANDE MARIANA!!! She Usain'd this shit for the second game in a row. Eight olympic races and all of them won!! And to all those "predictors" that kept hyping Buchanan: HA HA!
  17. Semi 1 down. I wonder (and hope, please oh god please) if we'll see Mariana dominate her four races Bolt style like in London?
  18. There's always the chance something fishy happened with the other two medallist and the b sample is still missing. Or with Mosquera himself, but given some stuff he said earlier today I doubt it.
  19. COC just published a memo saying that neither the IOC nor IWF had notified Colombia of anything. So who knows. This is the first time I follow one of this cases this closely. How long does it take usually?
  20. Congrats! And you guys were all gloom and doom before the Games. I told you you'd be fine.
  21. Yeah, par for the course. Which is what makes me extremely nervous for the women's races tomorrow
  22. Very entertaining first heat. I love this sport.
