  1. In London, only 2 Indians qualified, that too via South Asia Quota. In Rio, we were on track to qualify 2 but with some luck, ended up with 4. In Tokyo, we came close to qualifying teams but failed to do so. In Paris, the journey reaches first milestone with both teams qualifying.
  2. And once again, Totallympics has 100% accurately calculated the correct quota places.
  3. Ok let me clarify. World Team Ranking has the component of Singles Ranking. How is this component calculated? With help of a list having the top 3 players score. For example, China's score would be 8800 (Sun) + 4505 (Wang) + 4325 (Chen) = 17630. Similarly all nations score is calculated and a list is formed. Now, the top nation in the list gets 2000 points. 2nd placed nation gets 1850 and so on. Now, why would this ranking change from what we are seeing at ITTF website at present? Because Singles Ranking of players will change not only because of World Championships (minor change) but also because of points dropped from Feb 2023 and other points earned in Feb 2024. For example, if you check HKG has a Singles Total of 1163 (including 580 of DOO Hoi Kem) but in the WR published on 20 Feb, DOO has only 315 points. So, HKG's score would see a drop in the next update. Since, March Team Ranking would be used for Olympic Qualification, it is safe to assume that March Singles Ranking would be used to calculate that Team Ranking. https://www.ittf.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ITTF-World-Team-Ranking-Regulation-20230524.pdf Since, I have done my calculations on the fly with the main aim of finding out if India has qualified or not, there is a good chance that there might be some errors in the calculations. It would be great if someone can do proper calculations to find out the correct scores. In the Men's section, since the gap between India (last qualified) and Iran (Reserve 1) is decent according to calculations of @Siddhartha Talukdar I have not bothered to check it. Would appreciate if someone did similar calculations for Men's section as well.
  4. With and losing, all three would have same points from WTT. From Continental Competitions: has 250, 286 and 378. Now onto Singles: New total for (Singles ranking 15) : 1136, (SR 16) 1005 (SR 17) 760 (SR 12): 866 (SR 13): 1023 (SR 14) 1272 So, new PSR should be So, with SR 13 would get 784 points (Total points: 2106), with SR 15 would get 672 (2030) and with SR 17 would get 574 (2024) Infact Poland would be at 2114 (assuming same SR). So, by my calculations is the one who will miss out.
  5. There will be further changes in the team rankings based on the change in Singles Ranking.
  6. The way it works is that those in top 10 will be in top 10 only. No matter the score, person not in medal fleet cannot finish higher than anyone in the medal fleet. Just as Gold Fleet/Silver Fleet. The persons who are in the lower half of Gold Fleet have higher scores than top half of Silver Fleet but still would be ranked higher.
  7. And if any continental quota winners are among the quarterfinalists, that quota place will go to March Team Ranking.
  8. Didn't Europe recommission a number of Coal-fired power plants since Russian invasion of Ukraine?
  9. Don't know if the solutions he is taking are good or bad but it is intellectual dishonesty to blame Milei for hyperinflation. He has inherited a very weak economy and telling the public/investors/world the real state of the economy is a much needed first step and should be applauded. It is also a good step politically, as it shows your predecessors as bad and tries to put the blame for subsequent hardships on them. Now, let us see if he can come up with the more difficult work of practical solutions which will be politically bad as well.
  10. Meanwhile Stalin is serving as CM of Indian state of Tamil Nadu since 2021. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M._K._Stalin
  11. Let them compete instead of the US team or the Canadian team. Just as England/Scotland represent UK in a number of team sports. Let Haudenosaunee represent USA (or Canada) in Lacrosse.
  12. Insane innings by Maxwell. Surely one of the best ODI knock of all-time. Tough luck . Their inexperience showed in the later stages of the game when they didn't have any idea about how to stop Maxwell who could not even run. A football analogy I read about Maxwell's innings was "This was like a player scoring 8 goals in last 10 mins of a game after pulling a hamstring and when his team is down 7-0"
  13. Yes and No. Winning by X runs/Y wickets does give some idea about whether victory was massive or tiny. For example, win by 100 runs is massive while win by 10 runs is tiny as the losing team was in with a chance for a longer time. Similarly, win by 1 wicket is marginal while win by 10 wickets shows domination.
  14. Don't be surprised if come up with another good performance. Chennai pitch should help spinners and do have one of the best spin attack.
  15. For 6 team tournament in LA: USA: Host + Pan American quota Asia/Europe/Africa and Oceania: 1 quota each And 1 final quota for World Ranking. (I would prefer qualification tournament but ICC would almost surely chose ranking) If somehow they do get 8 team tournament for men, then there is a chance that there will be one qualification tournament for final spot and 2 spots being available for rankings.
  16. Which are the 11 Olympic events not competed in Huangzhou? IIRC, there was some difference in Weightlifting. What else?
  17. You simply don't get it. ICC/India is not selling cricket to USA. IOC/LA is looking at Cricket viewerships in India. They are counting that there are enough Indian origin HNIs in Silicon Valley who will pay top dollar to see Indian national team. We don't care if common Americans don't watch Cricket. We don't care if Europeans find Cricket boring. If you find flag football/lacrosse more Olympic worthy than Cricket then fine continue to whine. Your choice. We don't care.
  18. Last 2 Gold medals we won were both farcical. Cricket should have reserve days and in Kabbadi, referees should be more authoritative. I don't believe that they should not change decision based on discussion. What should have happened is: The main officials should have pulled the two coaches aside and have discussion with them asking each to give their interpretation of the rule, consulted the official rulebook and made the decision and stuck to it. If either team was adamant on not accepting the ruling, they should have declared the other team winner by forfeit. Since India is the bigger force in Kabbadi, was the team that protested initially and the final decision was in our favour, we do come out as the culprit. And I am sad that we couldn't complete our redemption by defeating Iran fair and square in the final.
  19. In any decently conducted sport, match officials would have told the teams that this is their final decision. They have two options accept it and play on or forfeit the match.
  20. I am curious what is your reading of coverage of India v Canada drama in American media. Is it just a footnote or are they covering it as something big?
  21. I think I have tried to help you (or someone else) in the past. Croquet with a Q is played by Queen of Hearts. Cricket with an I is played by Indians.
  22. Saikhom Mirabai Chanu in group D with an entry total of 60kg. Either there is a mistake in entry or she is just going to meet minimum tournament requirements. These examples show what a mockery the present qualification system is. P.S.: Out of 6 Indians, 3 have entry totals of 60kg. Really looking forward to following the tournament.
