  1. For me, the competition format is the only real problem. Single bracket tournaments with 10 athletes? That's a joke right there. Should have been two pools of five athletes each.
  2. Ranteš je imao jednu jedinu priliku (Svjetsko 2019.), a nju je ispustio. Sve ostalo je bilo protiv njega. Nikada ne bi upao preko renkinga, jer on ne donosi ništa malim državama s jednim predstavnikom.
  3. Meanwhile, the American dressage trials (not 100% binding like in T&F) start today. Here is an excellent preview.
  4. No Olympics for Miloserdova... When she changed her nationality, she forgot to do the same for her horse. https://www.eurodressage.com/2021/06/09/miloserdova-not-eligible-italian-olympic-ticket-due-wrong-owner-nationality The Italian federation is being so painfully transparent about all this. They declined to send anyone to the 2019 Europeans (also an Olympic qualification event), because none of their riders were "medal candidates". But now, after they received a cheap Olympic reallocation, suddenly they are happy to send anyone and at any cost. I guess some official will be getting a nice Tokyo trip.
  5. Already 30 seconds faster than Wang Yunxia's 9600 m record...
  6. Finally this farce ends. The IOC not accepting North Korean decision to withdraw felt pretty patronizing (fitting, but still)....
  7. Teams for the second stage in La Baule later this week... https://www.worldofshowjumping.com/Htdocs/Files/v/6144.pdf/Archives/2021_CI_0086_S_S_02_masterlist--CSIO-5-06.06.2021.pdf
  8. P athletes are staying outside of the Olympic village (normally), and their trips are fully paid for by their NOCs. For all intents and purposes, they are not official Olympians, unless they get subbed in (and compete) at some point.
  9. Here is a pretty good run-down for the qualifications... https://insidesynchro.org/2021/06/03/26-countries-to-compete-for-final-olympic-berths-in-barcelona/ Basically, it's impossible to predict who will take the team spot between . As for the duets, the final two spots will likely be decided between , with looking for an upset...
  10. 32. Looks like the road cycling rules may have got lost in translation. All time trial athletes must compete in the road race as well.
  11. What is this? Refugee judo team without anyone taking part in the individual events?
  12. Incredible bronze medal for Ranteš in the new Olympic discipline... ...and yet, no Olympics for him. Because qualification systems, i guess. What a joke.
  13. By the way, how come Fiji is given a whole month to decide whether they would accept or decline the quota...? Per qualification system, it should have been two weeks...
  14. Oh well, the Olympic course will have a tougher field, harder terrain, and will be almost twice as long. Still, he would be a much better pick than the Afghan girl. I can understand athletics, swimming and judo having refugee athletes with little international experience. But cycling would be pretty odd, just because of that possibility of getting removed from races.
  15. Curious if any of the two road cyclists will get a call-up. The chance of completing the race - 0%.
  16. Different era, different circumstances. I am not the one to say he crossed some line (not at all), but it's definitely something that would start an uproar in another context. Worth a bookmark.
  17. I realize that boxing and arrogance are a common combo, but damn, the British boxer really pushed it here... Especially since this interview happened after the match, so one can't really throw it under trash talk. https://olympics.com/live-blog/live-blog-boxing-qualifier-tokyo-2020-paris-monday-7-june-2021/ It's nothing jaw-dropping. But then again, I can imagine plenty contexts where someone who makes such remarks about their opponent's physical appearance would immediately face backlash and calls for a disqualification...
  18. Well, I wouldn't think so. Govorčinović and Tot were improving for some time now, while Čačić here seemingly had a lot of luck with her draw.
  19. We qualify a girl in boxing. Easily the most unexpected qualification so far.
  20. Is there another eligible Sri Lankan male athlete? If so, then they might pull the same trick Bosnia and Herzegovina did in tennis last time around (meaning, the original athlete receives reallocation causing their Tripartite place to be allocated to another athlete from the same nation).
  21. Well, it's an expected by-product of these mixed team nonsense events (not only in table tennis)... Women's events have less depth, so it is more likely their athletes will be able to qualify in both individual and mixed events. Though, saying that, it is also annoying how Canada purposely declined a quota just to inflate their numbers. One quota went wasted right there.
  22. How is this controversial? Nobody really recognizes the Russian rule over Crimea.
