  1. "Here are a whole bunch of words that mean nothing and don't address anything. Also, you're not allowed to ask us any more questions about this."
  2. Why is this so? They're all 1-1 now. If Canada and Hungary both lose they'd both be 1-2. Isn't the first tie-breaker head-to-head, which Canada holds? Canada also still has the best point differential. The same with Japan/Spain. If they both lose, Japan should hold the tie-breaker against Spain and qualify.
  3. While I agree, they also have way more power than Canadians.
  4. ISU is in kahoots with the Russians and would have let them keep gold if they could have. It's a disgrace.
  5. This is the nicest things anyone has ever said to me...
  6. I live in Guatemala now and I would love to be able to hop over to Mexico City for the game on the 11th and then up to Toronto (home-ish) for the one on the 12th, but I think I'm just going to concentrate on getting to the one in Toronto. Then maybe down to the American Northeast for a few more games. This is all very exciting!
  7. Same spot Vallee got last year in the 1m, with much better competition. She was ok at the PanAms, but I'm not super confident for Paris.
  8. Wooooo! I just want to see the best playing the best. McDavid and McKinnon (and many, many others) finally in the Olympics! I think this will help SLC win their bid, especially if they get their new arena and NHL team.
  9. I'm actually going to be in Europe (and Africa) just before the Games, but I decided not to try to fit it in due to costs and logistics. I have to be back at work halfway through the Games and need some rest. I've been to two WOG, but my first SOG will have to wait for LA 28.
  10. Only Russia has enough drugs to be high enough to think they'll win.
  11. I mean, this is such an outlier case, Russia is so innocent when it comes to doping there's no way anyone could know, or even join in the doping on the team.
  12. I'm not sure where to put this, but Shawn Barber, world champion pole vaulter, has died at the age of 29. It's always so tragic when someone so young dies. He popped into my head a few weeks ago, wondering what happened to him after Rio. RIP. https://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/summer/trackandfield/pole-vaulter-shawn-barber-obituary-1.7087965
  13. This team was not very good. Looked like a B team against Sweden, barely got by Germany. It's actually confusing how many times they missed the net in the 3rd there. And not just by a little bit, or from far out. Missing by 5 feet in tight, repeatedly. Props to Czechia, though. Hope they win gold!
  14. On a positive note, diving will become the most popular event as the athletes jump into a vat of salsa.
  15. The only thing missing are pills and syringes to symbolize Russian athletes' relentless state-sponsored doping.
  16. I used to live a short distance from that venue. I visited it several times before the Olympics, but of course couldn't go during the Games. Pisses me off a bit that I'm gone now that I could go.
  17. Yeah, but we didn't have Summer McIntosh in Tokyo (well, we did, but not prime Summer). We haven't had a double gold medal winner at the SOG since Donovan Bailey in 1996, let alone a mutli-gold medal winner.
  18. I really thought Canada would break its non-home's gold record, but there were some stand out disappointments the last few days. The medal numbers look good, but at the same time I feel like these were an overall disappointing Games for Canada. Especially in team sports.
  19. The American just bowled a perfect game against Hupe. Because of course he did. He's still only 3 points ahead of Hupe with one more game to come.
  20. AND (deep breath) Canada is just two sets away from qualifying the men's team for the table tennis final!
  21. Hupe officially qualifies first in bowling for tomorrows semis. Lavoie unfortunately finishes in 7th.
