  1. What a dramatic competition Happy to see Stoch advance from 12th to 3rd place in the end

  3. As of now, Benfica is very close to a historic debut, because they beat Mladost 3-0 in the 1st game.
  4. We will observe a historic night today since Benfica Lisboa and Mladost Zagreb will clash in the 1st leg of the 3-rd round men's Champions League qualification fixture. This is the final qualifying stage, the winner will get to play pool C (with Sir Collusi Sicoma Perugia, Verva Orlen Warszawa and Tours VB). It is important to note that neither Portugal or Croatia had qualified a team to the group stage of the Champions League since this tournament replaced European Cup Winner's Cup in 2000. (Also I'm now browsing results of older competitions and am starting to regret I wasn't around to watch the ECWC matches in the 90's, it seemed too have a much better format and more teams, not to mention a team from almost made it to the group stage in 1997 )
  5. Not Africa, but there's quite a big chance either Chile or Colombia will qualify from South America, especially since Venezuela faces a variety of problems recently. Not the same level of unexpected, but for example Chile hasn't qualified a men's team in any olympic sport recently.
  6. We've won and take the 1st place I admit I was not thrilled by our style in this qualifying tournament, and thought (still do) that qualifying from this group was something our boys HAD to do, so i didn't share the enthusiasm after wins against Latvia or Macedonia (no offence to anyone), but still, taking the 1st place is quite a feat, so congrats
  7. Still, a pretty strange decision by AVC to have group A contain only 3 teams. If India withdrew, then I think the next not-qualified team - Hong Kong (or, in case if they would not be able to participate because of the political turmoil in their country - New Zealand) should take their place in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
  8. As for us, I think even qualifying to the final tournament will be a huge success, espiecially since is the host... and we, unfortunately, seem weaker and weaker with every year
  9. The German Supercup match between SCC Berlin and VFB Friedrichshfen was played on specially installed LED-panel floor, covered in invisible anti-slip glass. This type of floor was tested earlier in some minor sports, like squash, however this is the first time it was tested during a important game of any Olympic team sport, so it was a bit of a historical event.
  10. withdrew from hosting the 2020 Nation's League finals, because the date ( 1-5 july) would interfere with their Independence Day Come on, I understand patriotism, but withdrawing less than a year before the competition starts is just so low Also in related news, another great idea came from the brilliant minds of FIVB, who demands a fee of ONE MILLION DOLLAR from the federations that want to replace the U.S as host Something tells me they will push the hosting to Poland again after they realize how ridiculous their demands are and that noone is going to apply for hosting rights once agaIn
  11. Pretty funny that the kind of people who yell about "Master Race", compare black people to monkeys etc. are usually the ones who behave the most animalistic and barbaric.
  12. Day 11 Results United States 3-1 Egypt ( 22-25 /. 25-16 / 25-14 / 25-13 ) Poland 3-0 Iran ( 25-18 / 25-18 / 25-16 ) Russia 3-0 Tunisis ( 25-16 / 25-15 / 25-15 ) Brazil 3-0 Italy ( 25-20 / 25-22 / 25-15 ) Argentina 3-0 Australia ( 25-20 / 25-21 / 26-24 ) Japan 3-2 Canada ( 22-25 / 25-20 / 25-23 / 23-25 / 15-9 )
  13. Day 10 results United States 3-0 Russia ( 25-23 / 25-11 / 25-16 ) Poland 3-0 Canada ( 25-23 / 26-24 / 25-20 ) Argentina 3-1 Egypt ( 25-27 / 25-17 / 25-22 / 25-17 ) Italy 3-2 Iran ( 25-27 / 27-29 / 30-28 / 25-17 / 25-13 ) Australia 3-0 Tunisia ( 25-21 / 25-17 / 25-21 ) Brazil 3-1 ( 25-17 / 24-26 / 25-14 / 25-17 )
  14. With today's win over Japan, Brazil wins the Gold Medal of the World Cup Poland and United States will most likely fight for the 2nd/3rd place, and Japan will take the 4th one.
  15. ... And a pretty surprising plot twist: While PIS retains control of the Sejm, it loses majority in the "upper chamber" of our parliament, the Senat. The opposition parties KE+KP+LEWICA managed to unite before the election, and have most likely taken control of the Senat, but what's surprising is that they won with just 1 seat There are 100 places in the Senat, and the Grand Coalition takes 51 while PIS takes 49 of them The Senat is not as important as Sejm, but it can for example veto bills and send them back to the Sejm, so it is really big news, especially since Law and Justice controlled both chambers since 2015.
  16. Late Poll: PIS 43,6% KO 27,4% LEFT 12,4% KP 9,1% KON 6,4%
  17. Day 9 Result Summary Argentina 3-1 Russia ( 25-23 / 25-23 / 21-25 / 25-16 ) Canada 3-2 Italy ( 19-25 / 25-17 / 15-25 / 25-23 / 18-16 ) United States 3-0 Australia ( 25-14 / 25-13 / 25-16 ) Brazil 3-2 Poland (19-25 / 25-23 / 25-19 / 16-25 / 25-11 ) Tunisia 3-1 Egypt ( 25-23 / 14-25 / 25-17 / 25-18 ) Japan 3-1 Iran ( 25-16 / 26-28 / 25-13 / 25-21)
  18. The Polish elections happened today. First exit poll: PIS - 43.6 % KO - 27.4 % LEFT - 11.9% KP - 9.6% KON - 6.4% Margin of error: 2% This is going to be a really interesting night. PIS would only have absolute majority if they got at least 43 %. Currently, they have only 0,6% more than that, which, if we take the 2% margin of error under account means that they may have celebrated too early. Furthermore, basically noone expected Konfederacja to make it, which means that any increase of support for this party means the other ones (primarily PIS) lose seats. At the other hand, the centre party KO (Civic Platform+Modern+Greens+ basically anything you imagine) is clearly the party that failed. They had more than 32 % in previous election, but they failed their campaign miserably. Who knows what might have hapened had Wałęsa restrained himself from insulting the Prime Minister's Morawiecki late father only one day after he passed away. Noone likes Schetyna either, so it's no secret him stepping down would have benefited the party, unfortunately his ego once again overtook him The Left is a big winner. They did not make it to the parlament in 2015, but now they have almost 12% of support, which is really good result if you consider that one of it's leaders is openly homosexual (which was unthinkable in public a few years ago). They attracted mostly the votes of young people who were tired of constant PO vs PIS battles, and they touched some taboo issues, like abortion or LGBT rights. KP,or the Polish Coalition (PSL+Kukiz) is our agrar party, so they mostly got votes from villages and small towns. Still, they are possibly the biggest winners of these elections, the PSL only achieved 5.1% in 2015, barely passing the electoral threshold, and Kukiz 15 has been considered by many as a dead party. They are centre to centre-right in their views. Konfederacja is the only openly far-right party, and it's a historical success for them. Their leader is Janusz Korwin-Mikke ( you may have heard of him when he performed the nazi salute in EU parliament) and they have some controversial connections and politicians (Robert Winnicki once declared he would not be insulted if he was called a fascist). Still, they are amongs the most popular parties for younger votes. They managed to present themselves as an alternative for PIS, and may very well be the force that causes the ruling party to lose the absolute majority it now holds. I will post an update if there are any late polls.
  19. That rally from today's vs game captures exactly why I love this sport Hands down one of the best defensive plays I have ever seen in volleyball

  23. Turkey started bombing Kurd locations in Syria
  24. Playstation 5 has a confirmed release date of Holidays 2020.
  25. Wait, how does the qualification even work? There's no article about the 2020 European Championship on Wikipedia, but when I checked the qualification for previous editions it looks like teams could lose all matches in Qualifying Round 1 and take the last place in their group, but still be qualified for Qualifying Round 2 What?
