I'm quite late, but I was sad to hear of the passing of Sara Tavares, Portugal's representative at Eurovision in 1994 (one of my favorite performances ever).
So sad this. And despite her disease she kept being the happy friendly person as always for the past years. This was one of my favorites from her, such a good mix of Portuguese and Cabo Verde, just like as she was.

Yeah she’s quite freak but in a good way, this is the one that got more attention to here, really nice!

Luis Figo knew when to leave and he was also a big star in Portugal, although obviously not as big as Ronaldo. Maybe Ronaldo wants to leave in 2024 after the Euro? Will it be about 20 years after his debut in the national team in 2004, also at Euro?
Figo was big, but Ronaldo is on Eusebio/Pelé/Maradona level (in Portugal, i mean). Is the best for the old and new generations, so it's something different.
I dont think he wants to leave in 2024, i think in his mind he can play forever. But I think he will leave this year, because next world cup is in USA, and.... he has some trouble relationship with USA.... so i think he will avoid putting is foot there again

The Problem is that Portugal always picks some below average coaches for NT , since Scolari I haven't seen them signing good coaches, even Fernando Santos that win Euro in 2016 wasn't that good and literally did nothing along with this Euros despite having one of the best ever generations of Portugese Players , so these average Coaches are afraid of Ronaldo's affect in the media like what happened in last WC when they say that we lost because he didn't start the match .
Roberto Martinez is some average coach that I don't remember he has done anything good in his career other than with Wigan and that was from way back . Same problem of Belgium from Wilmots to Roberto Martinez who was an upgrade version of Wilmots ofc to Tedesco
yeah precisely this.
People in Portugal screamed out loud to let Ronaldo in the bench after the group phase and surprise surprise, Switzerland just got destroyed by what is supposed to be our national team. And you saw it against Sweden as well. When he's not there they just play as a team and not just to him, so it's easier to get good results.

When is he going to leave the national team? I was sure that leaving for Saudi Arabia would mean the end of his appearances in the national team. I have a similar opinion that he is harming the team more than helping it but the coach should notice this and propose a dignified farewell.
Yeah but it's a very complicated situation... Right now i believe the huge majority of people in portugal want him to retire already, but he doesn't.
And it's not "easy" to push him away because of two reasons:
- he's the all time hero of the country, so it would be like Brasil kicking out Pelé- he brings a lot of money to the national federation, and i'm pretty sure the coach has pressure from above because they don't want to push out the "cash cow" of the team
Plus he's a diva so he won't go away on his own
-
I have a very "meh" feeling about this Euros....
In one hand i think we have the best team i have ever seen in , almost at same level as the one from the early 2000s.
In the other hand we have Ronaldo.... which was good and hero and etc but now is just old and annoying....
So unless he gets injured I dont have much hopes for this year unfortunately..

20 years later, the dream of having a Portugal vs Greece again in a final phase is closer than ever
Next step is to bribe some Arab guy to injure Ronaldo until August and we can complete the revenge!
I guess we'll need to wait another 20 years then
But I love Georgia as a country (if you never been there, go there, it's an incredibly beautiful land) so I'm happy for them anyway

Finally have the time to react to this contest.
Thanks again to all those who gave points to Portugal, i'm always happy to share a bit of my land's music to you and the fact that some of you liked a song from my hometown is even better!
Also I wonder if the 15th place is some top record for Portugal?
In any case, congrats to Italy for the win, although it was not one of my favorite songs at all (it was 22 on my top list) but i have a peculiar musical taste
Some comments about the points i gave:
- 12 Loved the melody and i like chinese language in songs so this as a topper to me
- 11 I found out about Jain thanks to TISC many years ago, and i became a fan thanks to that. I stopped following her songs some time ago so when i heard her voice and learned she had this new stuff, i knew this was gonna be one of my top 3.
- 10 Such a powerful sound!
- 9 The type of spanish music i like. It gave me so much vibes from early 2000s spanish music, which brings many happy memories from my teenage years there.
- 8 This traditional songs are always gonna get points from me, 100%
- 7 I could see this one in Eurovision
- 6 As more as I hear this one, the better it gets. One of my favorites right now actually
- 5 , - 4, Nothing to say about this ones, just sounded nice
- 3 , Don't find it particularly special but the message of the lyrics is really great so had to have points
- 2 Nothing to say again, just sounded nice
- 1 I love this song, the artist, and the amazing message it gaves (just like the movie), but I usually try to never give any points to famous singers/songs, unless they are so good that it is impossible for me to do so, which is why I had reserved my "1 point" to this one.
I really liked this edition though! Can't wait for the next one! Thanks to everyone who shared with all of us a bit of your country's music!

I am not able to follow the contest as I’m doing some work in the house but just came to check and, oh god, so happy that many of you liked Soraia Ramos song!!
This one is special to me as she’s from my hometown and was my school colleague, and the connection Portugal/Cape Verde is very strong there, which brings me to my childhood and teenage years time.
For those who liked the song, look for more of her songs, she deserves all the success she’s getting!

I listened to the songs already, and can tell already this is my favorite edition ever.
Pretty sure is the first time that i don't dislike any song and my average pointing for each song is quite high. I mean, there is not a clear 12 for me like in many (all?) previous editions, but the average quality is really up to what I like to hear!

I'm just gonna leave this here
Swimming is my favourite sport since forever, i have been following this sport since the amazing Sydney 2000 games and the great Ian Thorpe, and have even went to Budapest in 2017 only to be able to watch a WC live for the first time, and, with the poor support and attention this sport has in my country, I never thought I could live to see the day my anthem would play in the World Championship.
No words for what happened yesterday.

You know I like to use this contest to share a little bit of my country, and for this year i want to show you what I think is the less known part of Portugal.
After our dictatorship ended in the 70s, and the end of the war, Portugal had as one of it's biggest immigrant communities the ones from our ex-colonies in Africa (Cape Verde, Angola, Mozambique and Guiné-Bissau). This people went to live mainly on the suburbs cities of Lisbon, where you could easily hear as much crioulo as portuguese language in the streets.
One of such cities is my hometown, Amadora, where i grew up and studied, with many of my friends and school colleagues being portuguese but from cape verde or angola ancestry. And among them was this girl, now a woman, who this year I surprisedly found out that she had became a famous singer in Cape Verde!
Therefore, for this year TISC, a true african sound will be part of the show, with a song in Crioulo about Cape Verde, representing that part of Portugal, unknown to all the tourists, from where I am from and from which I have many good memories!

Also
Yeah but that’s kind of a “fake” one.
there is no similar friendship between Portugal and Equatorial Guinea as there is with all of our ex colonies.
As most portuguese, I’m cheering during every CAN for Cabo Verde, Angola, Guine Bissau and Moçambique (and São Tomé e Príncipe if they would ever make it )
-
Amazing day for PALOP countries!! Cabo Verde and Moçambique!!!

Men's Football UEFA European Champions League 2023 - 2024
in Football

Please let these 4 matches be a lesson to UEFA so that next year they don't schedule them at the same time.
Quarter final matches of the Champions League, with the 8 best football teams in the world, need to be in separated timeslots!!! All of them were great matches!
