  1. Also, for those that gave 12 points to , and for all the others that liked Madredeus song, you should check some of their other work, is really nice. For now, I leave here another of their big hits, and my personal all time favorite of them.
  2. I see some liked madredeus, really nice! And Portugal ended with a 16 place, not bad! Congrats again to the organizer, we all had a lot of fun and that’s all thanks to you @Olympian1010 I was expecting a bit UK to win, the song is of course really good, I personally like it a lot but since my goal for this contest is to find new good music, I purposely choose not to give points to celebrities. Although in this case I like the song so much I couldn’t resist to give it at Leary 1 point I really liked all the other 11 songs I voted , especially Greece and Sweden, the last one was an immediate 12 from the moment I heard it, loved it!!! As for Spain, I’m a huge fan of Mecano but I think the song chosen was not be best, if it would be Hijo de La Luna, Una rosa es una rosa, or Un año mas, I think it would have better chances
  3. Im following this contest in a mobile browser where I’m unable to see the whole points table so i have no idea how much Portugal has but I saw some points coming in already so I’m happy that some of you liked Madredeus!
  4. Good morning everyone! I’m in Cabo Verde this time but I’ll try to follow the show today. Good luck and let’s have some TISC fun Thanks a lot to the organizer for making this happen!
  5. My second song is not as sad as the first one. In fact, is quite comic since it’s from South Park. But it is also quite deep, and if you listen to it carefully, you will realize there the true meaning of the song: we are all going to die, so don’t give too much relevance to things that do not have importance and enjoy all the time you have with those you like, because they will also going to die. “It might happen in a couple months Or 50 years from now But no matter when it happens It will seem too soon to you So be sure on Christmas Eve When you snuggle into bed That you thank God for your family 'Cause someday they'll be dead” South Park - Dead, dead, dead
  6. As suggested, I also thought of two songs for this Dia de Los Muertos event. The first one is one of the saddest songs I know, telling the story of a girl who daily takes the train to madrid and falls in love with someone else that also makes the same journey but misses the courage to talk with him, until one day she does that, on a Thursday , at 11 March 2004, where her live changes forever. This song is about all the lives that got lost due to the Islamic terrorist attacks from 11 March 2004 that blew up a bunch of trains in Madrid and kill almost 200 people. The story is based on a Diary that was found at the wreckage of the bombing, who belong to a girl that was writing there how she met a guy on that train trip and how she was enjoying talking with him everyday. Those in the video above are actual survivors and family members of those murdered in the terrorist attacks. La Oreja de Van Gogh - Jueves
  7. And since we can share two halloween musics, and because this song was played in loop in my neighbourhood yesterday (some school kids party happening here in the village), i'll share with you this "scary" dutch catchy song
  8. Not sure from which country this is (france? , maybe usa? , no idea actually) but it's what i came into my mind when i thought about halloween/scary music
  9. Garlic ice cream?? After 7 years living in the Netherlands I thought I knew everything about terrible food, but I guess not! 😅 I guess I’ll bring some sandwiches with me then
  10. I love the idea, congrats for the initiative! It's interesting to know about the Dia de Los Muertos at November 1st, because in Portugal November 1st is a different holiday, a religious one called "Day of All Saints", but people end up doing a similar thing: we go to the cemeteries and put flowers in our family members who passed away to honour them, and (those who are religious) go to a christian mass for the same reason (honouring the death). Curious fact: November 1st is also quite a big date in Portugal history. On this day, in 1755, a huge earthquake happen in the ocean nearby the coast of Portugal, strong enough to make many buildings collapse in Lisbon, and causing a big fire due to all the candles that everyone had in their houses and churches as it used to be a "Day of All Saints" tradition. The fire was so big in the entire city of Lisbon that people end up running to the river to avoid the flames. But, as the earthquake was in the sea, it caused a tsunami that hit Lisbon and killed all those that had escaped to the riverside. The whole disaster killed about 30k people and destroyed completely the center part of Lisbon.
  11. I'm pretty sure that's an ironic question but nevertheless, and because i love that dutch tradition, here it is: P.S - We also have "sint maarten" in Portugal (São Martinho), but we don't sing anything, we just gather around the (usually) good weather, eat some roasted chestnuts and drink wine in what we call "magusto"
  12. Meh still think we could be much better if we got Ronaldo to retire. But I guess we’ll have to wait until the end of 2024 for that
  13. Once again, my top 3 was an easy one, and i knew a song would be my 12 from the moment I started listen to it. But I have to say, this is one of my favorite editions ever! The average song quality is really good (for my musical taste of course) 😁
  14. You can also share the other "loosing" three songs that will not be part of the contest in the Festival of Music, it is always a nice place - at least for me - to get to know new music that just didn't took part in the contest
  15. Not saying any personal opinion about this specific one (Barco a Venus), but just want to say that "Hijo de La Luna" would have killed it
  16. Well, was actually wondering what should I share for this year and then i heard this on the radio - i am actually in Portugal this week - and then realised that i actually never showed you Madredeus. Probably unknown to most (all?) of you but this was one of the most successful music bands of all time in Portugal, when at the end of the 80s they decided to start playing traditional portuguese music but moving a bit of from Fado. The result can be seen in many of their songs, but i think the one that truly shows their music style is this one, called "O Pastor". I hope you like this small piece from Portuguese culture! PORTUGAL MADREDEUS - O Pastor
  17. I know this match is against Luxembourg but I do love whenever Portugal plays without Ronaldo, it’s just so much better!
  18. Well if US are world champions then I guess….
  19. I saw the 0-0 at 70 minutes, I saw the coach was Fernando Santos, and I was already ready to share here this classic from Euro 2016
  20. It was leuk! :D nothing special, just doing some 5km races here and there as a way to enjoy the weather and "visit" new places. I did went last weekend to cycle on the Houtribdijk (the one between the Markermeer and Ijsselmeer), and that was fun, there were even people in a beach in the middle of the dijk, which has to be one of the most dutch things ever haha (going to a beach in a dike i mean).
  21. @heywoodu weren’t you from somewhere near this town? I just left it after a short race there and I think I heard about it from the TISC, but I might be mistaken
  22. I have to say, was waiting for some big defeat on this one, seeing this result is quite incredible. Really really proud of our Navegadoras, i really hope this is the first of many!
