She did. Indeed, I believe she deserved the bronze medal, not silver. She had A LOT of technical mistakes, especially late turns and need to reposition her hands during her grips. 8.1 in execution was too much, but not a big deal. She deserved a medal for sure and her routine was very difficult, but execution was all over the place.

and gold for our baby giant his entry was way below two other athletes. this is really surprising. he made all 6 attempts ! considering the fact he is 2 years younger than the rest. he is indeed talented as they were claiming ! 2 very surprising medals in less than 10 minutes I can't ask for more. this completely made up for disappointment in futsal and shooting.

Unfortunately, the RUS MAG coach removed his gymnast (Sergei NAIDIN) accidentally from the four Apparatus Finals in which he qualified. The coach thought he was confirming participation. Consequently, the reserve gymnasts were inserted in his place. RUS became aware of the mistake when they realized, that the start lists did not include their gymnast’s name. This morning the FIG, with approval from the IOC, has decided not to punish the gymnast because of an administrative error of his coach and to re-admit Sergei NAIDIN to the finals of the Floor Exercise, Pommel Horse, Parallel Bars, and Horizontal Bar for which he had originally qualified and to exceptionally run these four finals with 9 athletes instead of 8.

I head about a very talented super heavyweight weightlifter that we will see here and he is 15 . two years younger than his opponents. he will most probably win a bronze tonight (unless he bombs out in CJ) but I didn't know he is 163kg ! at the age of 15 ! great performance by India in Hockey 5s......reach the finals in both women and mens events ......... after so many disappointments by the senior team ( in the commonwealth games and the asian games ) , I had gotten to hate hockey in terms of performance , but these performance by the youngsters was fearless and bright ................... both women and men decimated the competition ....falling in love with hockey again

It's funny that media in Honduras was celebrating like crazy the medal he earned in the mixed international team event, and now they're like "Oh, look, another medal". Somebody tell them that this is the moment to get all excited, since this is their first official Olympic medal ever.

I like the team on paper a lot, but Padurariu and Dénomée have not scored very high this year, Moors has not competed in international events in a long time (I can't even remember when) and Olsen's last international showing was over six months ago. If Black is in good shape (and I think she is) there's hope for good results. The problem is that this team is very different from the team that won the CWG. On paper, they are great, though -- based on quality alone, I'd say top 5 at Worlds -- but it's hard to predict how well they will perform.

Good performance from our boy in equestrian. He was faultless in the entire competition (team & individual) up to the jump-off, riding what according to him was an "average" horse. Medal for Honduras I think, nice for them.

I took a look at the qualification system and the women get an extra spot per event, probably to get the athlete totals to be equal among men and women.

There isn't official table but in Wikipedia at least they are counting medals for a nation (in events which also involve mixed teams) as long as the team is only made up by nationals. I suppose tennis doubles will be the same.

she recieves national sports pension for her results, she also donated her legat to Sombor museum but as dareza said gymnastics is here disaster, it's minor sport so most of people don't know about her and few more girls that won world/european medals only us, keen sports fans, are well informed

Junior competition in general isn't all about medals, but in general it does help if you're good already Although yes, plenty of great juniors in any random sport don't really make it in the seniors and plenty of great seniors weren't that impressive in the juniors.

Well, not that, but obviously not getting frustrated by person with whom you are randomly paired with would be a start.

I think that our Youth Olympics started and ended with the swimming programme. Another solid medal performance from Teterevkova. Together with Šeleikaitė they medalled in all of the women's breaststroke categories

You run the risk that people lose interest in a three week long competition. Not every sports fan can sit around and watch sports all day @heywoodu

That would increase operational costs. The way to do it is perhaps having more sessions per day/reducing competition days for some sports that could share venues. Weightlifting has 14 weights, you could do that competition within 5 days now for ex.

Both you and @konig have difference answers lol This venue model is probably the best I have seen in any multi-sport event (a smaller scale was used at Commonwealth Games, where 3 sports shared). Toronto 2015 also had weightlifting/boxing share the same stadium. If the IOC is keen on saving costs, you got to remove venues. The biggest expense is venues, with each one you have staff, cleaning, security, overlay etc. If they reduce them it would be save money. But nothing in Agenda 2020 says this And to make it worse they added stadiums for baseball for ex. in 2020.

Both are in the same venue and in the exactly extreme oposite part of the place.

It made no sense to play without keeper after 3-1. They were so obsessed about first place in the group that now they will probably lose everything. But oh well, one lost medal chance doesn't matter because we had almost perfect day in every other sport

well Argentina still has a chance to qualify if they defeat Panama with 7 goals difference , i think they may really regret those 2 goals conceded in empty nets
