I don't like numbers 2 and 3. I would just give a medal to both athletes

sure...their top athletes already think about the real Olympic medals at this age (especially in sports like swimming and gymnastics, where you normally can excel at a very young age)... so, why wasting their energy and time for such a meaningless (for what concerns the real sport stuff) festival like this? I mean...for those who are participating it's surely a great life experience, but the actual sport competition is almost senseless...I don't want to say it's a farce, but we're really close to that...

"Skaters X and Y didn't make it to the final, so Merijn Scheperkamp could potentially make it to the medals. To do so..." (this is where I started thinking "Great, now we'll hear what he has to do for a medal") "....he will have to skate well and get enough points." Thanks commentator. Next time please tell me how to win the 100m freestyle swimming. I am guessing that to do so one will have to swim well and finish fast enough?

Nah, they have another objective... It's very hard for me explain it in English, but I will try. China starts a massive founding in Africa and they have economical agreement with 53 African states (only South Africa is excluded) and it's part of the new silk road. China gave without any problems money to the African states with a low interest rate (around 0) but they colonize and corrupt the African agricolture system. The biggest problem is that the Chinese population want eat different foods (Mao's time when the population was content with only rice are finished) so they start the agricultural policy of monoculture and buy African products at low price. Basically they destroy all African's chance to develope in agricolture and start a new colonization. Welcome in the 2018, an amazing wold with too much geopolitical interests. PS. (This is a simplification, I can't do more with my English :p)

At one time it was a big problem when athletes (especially football or hockey players) left for other countries and couldn't say anything. Because of what broke career and returned home. And now, before leaving for the USA or Canada, our young hockey players speak English well. Also when there is facebook and instagram communication of athletes who have participated in competitions since childhood, has reached a new level.

Since the YOG topic is too crowded, I'll post it here both as a reminder to myself and as a way to keep people informed. Iran and Ireland reached for the first time ever the finals in artistic gymnastics at an Olympic event. Iran on men's pommel horse, Ireland on women's vault.

Zato Martin Bezděk si na svoji dospěláckou OH asi ještě bude muset počkat, jelikož v kategorii do 81 kg má v Česku dva velké konkurenty, jmenovitě Petra a Musila. To šermířka Bieleszová teoretickou šanci na olympijskou nominaci do Tokya má :-)

no, it wasn't...Maiorca won the 5000m race, so if the Colombian ended up in 4th place in the 500m sprint race, Maiorca would have eventually won the gold medal...

I think it's a punishment for Italy going beyond the 2.4 deficit/GIP ratio...the entire EU asked for that... no, trying to be serious once every while...it was because the final placing in the 5000m elimination race, which was to be considered "the final" of the combined event, despite being held earlier than the 500m sprint race... from the Worldskate website: "Barrault and Valanzano tied in the final ranking and, following the rules, the Silver medal went to France thanks to a better placement in the 5.000mt Elimination"... unfair, but this is how they managed the situation... ops...it was already posted...I'm still sleeping this morning... thanks to @Dunadan
