After the relay disaster in Sochi, I am happy to see the men advance to the finals.

Luckily they only brought 5999 doses. I asked a friend to count them all.

best news from the luge track today...Emily Sweeney is fine...just some bruises all over the body, but no fractures nor concussion... very good news...

Pretty sure I saw you crying about Kuzmina and other stuff during women’s sprint so don’t throw rocks in glass houses.

What shame! It's comparable only to the case of the 2018 when Norway brought 6000 doses of asthma.. I don't know if you remember it

Here are the last things I know about other sports: 1) http://www.rollersports.org/discipline/skateboarding/news/item/1341-skateboarding-at-the-olympic-games-tokyo-2020 it is a link with general explanation on Olympic qualification for skateboard but it almost says nothing you cannot imagine; 2) Judo olympic qualification period will start in May, with the first tournament for earning points being the Hohhot Open in China on May 22, if I remember well; 3) For baseball, Premier 12 (8-21 November 2019) will assign at least one quota; this should mean that Softball World championships (2-11 August 2018 in Japan) will do the same; 4) Triathlon qualification period should be from May 11 2018 to March 10 2020, with the first event to be used for point ranking that should be World Series in Yokohama, starting on May 12 2018; 5) This season Beach Volley World Tour will be used to define a 16-pair tournament (1 per NOC) which will play an Olympic qualification tournament next year, I suppose before World Championships.

Meh disappointed, I really wanted to see Korea winning all gold to make everyone here go nuts.

Everything kind of pointed to the possibility of such crash. First injury in Oberhof, then crash in Sigulda, with generally mistake filled runs in between. And yesterday she really lacked confidence. I just hope she won't retire from luge after this. If anything, for me she's definitely the best athlete commentator that I've heard...

In German Team, they decided years ago, that the best athlete/double in single competition will compete in the team. They stayed with this decision during every single competition, they have to do so now, too.
  13. 2 points
I think it will take a very long time before that will change.

yesss!!! at least the German clean sweep has been avoided... congrats to Gough! p.s. no comment on the Italian girls...

Sjinkie, dude That was too much, penalty incoming.

just in case you all wonder why the Dutch dominate the speed ice skating (according to NBC commentador):
  17. 2 points
well, maybe you're not so interested in CC skiing and short track, but those are my 2 highlights of the day (together with the already gone snowboard women's halfpipe) and they are exactly at the same time (for what concerns the most important phases of the competition)... moreover, always at the same time there are the luge finals, the mixed curling gold medal match and speedskating (all things I'd like to watch, too)... so, it will be almost impossible to keep myself away from spoilers, especially in ST and CC, which could see some Italian success (and therefore we're going our TV jumping from one to the other all the time)... p.s. if there's something boring, to me, that' ski jumping (apart from figure skating, which it's not even a sport for my taste)...

I'm glad Totallympics broke down into hell and chaos and was entirely restarted after Lillehammer 2016, so: I never said such a thing

Maybe I should write Eurosport and ask them if they could use a new commentator. I honestly think this guy on Danish Eurosport is the worst I've ever heard!

Last place for Beyrami Baher. Btw, is very nice see an Iranian girl in a winter sport. She is the frist atlete ever for Iran that compete in a sprint event at OG

Downhill specialists on the slalom, my favourite part of alpine skiing.

Zakurdaev lost only 0.04 in the bottom sector. Expected, someone as consistent as him always delivers.

Are you watching the race or you just speak for nothing (like you always do)?

It's official. These Games are horrible.

No worries people, this looks perfectly safe. A tornado here and there on the course, but that's just a matter of details.

Unless someone builds an indoor alpine stadium the changes in weather throughout an event will always play a factor. You play the hand you were dealt and most athletes understand this. If not you'll get people complaining about the sun being in everyone's eyes for a 30 minute block before moving into a better angle.

find something else for example this news about Norway and their 6000 doses

Also true, but Finlad beat Canada recently a well.

Yup, pretty good day for Canada. I predicted 3-4 medals, and they delivered. Short track was messy, basically had a mini-stroke in the men's relay. Boutin may have gotten lucky, but it makes up for St-Gelais. Was hoping to see both of them on the podium, but oh well. I had the pleasure of seeing short track in Shanghai a few months ago and Boutin really looks fantastic. I have high hopes for her in the other races, but there's always so much going on. Gough was consistent enough to get a medal, and you can't help but feel great for her after Sochi. The other Canadians did great as well. A concern is that De Haitre looked hurt or something in his race. He's got the 1000m, which he is better at, in a few days so I hope he gets on form by then. Another concern is Alex Harvey blowing it in the sprint qualification. Maybe he's focusing on other races? Or is this another 'miss' at the Olympics? 10 medals in 7 sports so far with chances in hockey, skeleton, bobsleigh, x-country and possibly alpine still to come. The Dutch can win all the speed skating medals and Norwegians can get 12 golds with 3 athletes in cross-country, but Canada is probably the most well rounded winter sports country.

Arianna beside this, I watched the final while I was eating, so it was not very clear to me all that happened. However, in replay I noticed that the Korean athlete was pushed from the Canadian, if I'm not wrong. Wasn'it enough for DSQ?
  36. 1 point
@heywoodu yeah only 15 medals for your team at the end
  37. 1 point
Now Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping are the only sports in which Canada has never won a medal!
  38. 1 point
That was the most obvious penalty I've seen in short track. And that's saying a lot. Good hockey play, though.

Just a stat: Hirscher have the same amount of gold medal as Razzoli

Basically the expected podium, and even more or less in the expected order (knowing Aerni wasn't fit)

I unironically love watching downhill specialists do slalom. So many crashes

'Half-Dutch medal' headlines appearing in Dutch media in 3, 2, 1....
  46. 1 point
Innerhofer was faster at 2nd training plus you’re obviously biased if you think speed guys would only be just a second in front of Hirscher lol
  47. 1 point
I really like this course, i think they should use it on thursday too or even better just use today's results as official downhill results, given that it would be too dangerous to send everyone down a second time.
